Originally when I was planning out what I was going to do for each of the album covers, I thought that I would make yellow a very classic looking still life. I picked lemons from the back yard, arranged them in a bowl, and sat down with my oil pastels. I finished the lemons and hit a wall with the background. Casey and I discussed several options to make the still life not look so…still, and ultimately I ended up setting the project aside to work on the other covers. When I finally came back to it, I had just finished up recording my parts for the Yellow songs and was feeling inspired. I took the “psychedelic” 60’s inspired, sunny, pop sound and decided to make a color scape of layered cardstock in a very (I call it) “Schoolhouse Rock” aesthetic. Casey dug it..I dug it…everyone was happy.
